Camera Critters

It is my favorite time of the week again. A time to visit others who love critters as much as I do. A time to visit and say ohhhhh and ahhhh isn't that cute. A time to learn about other critters.
This week, I am needing the help from my fellow critter lovers. I took these pictures at Cape May Point State Park, NJ, the day before Tropical Storm Hanna arrived. It was in the pond with egret, herons, ducks and geese. I have no idea what bird this is. I have never seen this there before or since. If anyone can identify this bird for me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Visit other critters by going to Camera Critters, hosted by the a very nice and funny Misty. Have a good weekend everyone.

You know I can't tell you what the mystery bird is, but yes, it is very pretty. I hope you learn soon from someone out there how to identify it.

It sure is a lovely bird I'm sure one of the critters participants is going to know what kind it is.

This is a great bird but I don't know its name either! Nice pictures. I hope the birds didn't suffer from the storm. Have a nice weekend!

I have no clue, but it's coloring is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

I knew it was some sort of heron just from its general build. According to Sibley's it looks like a Black-Crowned Night-Heron. Good capture!

Love the picks. He is a cute little guy.
I'd agree on a heron.

Nice shot of whatever it is. I don't see shore birds here.

Thanks for your visit to my CC spider post today.

I think it belongs to the tern species... a black and white tern is my guess.

You can do a google search on images for terns, just a suggestion.:)

It's the Cape May bird! Your guess is as good as mine, but a neat looking bird nonetheless

Great shot of the bird! It's hard to photograph birds - I have a little Canon point and shoot and if it's standing very still near to me, I can get a good shot, otherwise no way.

Thanks for sharing this!

Peace,
Gina
