It is my favorite time of the week again. A time to visit others who love critters as much as I do. A time to visit and say ohhhhh and ahhhh isn't that cute. A time to learn about other critters.
This week, I am needing the help from my fellow critter lovers. I took these pictures at Cape May Point State Park, NJ, the day before Tropical Storm Hanna arrived. It was in the pond with egret, herons, ducks and geese. I have no idea what bird this is. I have never seen this there before or since. If anyone can identify this bird for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Wow, I don't know what it is either but its very pretty. I've never seen one like it. Maybe it was lost.

You know I can't tell you what the mystery bird is, but yes, it is very pretty. I hope you learn soon from someone out there how to identify it.

I knew it was some sort of heron just from its general build. According to Sibley's it looks like a Black-Crowned Night-Heron. Good capture!

I think it belongs to the tern species... a black and white tern is my guess.
You can do a google search on images for terns,just a suggestion.:)

Great shot of the bird! It's hard to photograph birds - I have a little Canon point and shoot and if it's standing very still near to me, I can get a good shot, otherwise no way.

Black-Crowned Night-Heron it is, cool birdwatch !! Not that I have ever seen him, but I know his European brother ;-)
