The people have spoken

This is the first time that I really got into an election. Maybe I am a bad American, but other elections just didn't seem as important as this one to me.

For me, it was all about change. We couldn't keep going the way we were going. We couldn't afford to keep going the way we were going. Both on a federal and local level. I am tired of the spending, good old boy club and many other reasons.

I am happy to say that everyone I voted for WON.

I think this election should be a wake-up call to the powers that be. The message, "We are not going to take it anyone."

I agree that change is needed in this country. It will be a rough road ahead for this country, were in a big mess and it will take quite some time to get out of it! Now no matter who we voted for, we the people should stand together and support our leaders.

After a temper tantrum I had last night, I'm ready to believe in my choice. It's all good.

Well said, Lisa! I hope we are all "mad as hell and not going to take it any more"! I hope we're made enough to do something about it.

Uh Lisa, Both candidates made enough promises to break this country for good. The double whammy will be attacking the people who hire our workers.
I saw a telling video clip a couple of days ago on youtube. A twenty something young lady like you, was jubilant and crying tears of joy after hearing our next president speak in person. She said "For the first time in my life I won't have to worry about the price of gas for my car, or how I'm going to pay my rent or how to pay for college. All I have to do is vote for him and he'll help us. This is one of the most meaningful moments of my life"
How very, very, sad.
There is a huge disconnect in the thinking of both parties.
That's why the conservatives stayed away from the polls. There was enough of them to swing the election the other way if they had shown up, but they (we) weren't much interested in voting to take the country down the wrong path again with either candidate. (and Most of the presidents starting with Kennedy for that matter)
I guess for me it comes down to, we are all personally responsible for ourselves and our family. It's not the governments job to take care of me or my family. It's mine.
My family (when the kids were going to school, and now my daughters family) all qualify (qualified) for welfare, food stamps and the free lunch program. I'm happy to say we never did, or have participated in the handouts.
My hope is that the economy can get back to the record growth of the first 7 years of W's administration.
I don't hold out any hope for that either.

Congratulations Lisa on voting! I'm breathing a sigh of relief over America's choice. Go Barack, go!
